Home Security in Tulsa
Smart locks, keypad entry and door hardware that make the house easier to live in and harder to break into
Home Security
Start at the door
Most break-ins in Tulsa come through a door, and most of those doors had a builder-grade deadbolt and a short strike plate. The home security work we do starts there: grade 1 and grade 2 deadbolts, reinforced strike plates, and smart locks or keypad entry that let the family in without a key under the mat. Add a video doorbell or driveway camera and you can see who is there from anywhere.
We are a locksmith and security company, not an alarm sales office, so the advice starts with what actually stops a kick-in. Call (918) 664-5010 and tell us about your doors.

Just moved in? Rekey before you unpack
When you buy a house you get the keys the seller chose to hand over. You do not get the ones the painter, the neighbor and the previous tenant still have. A rekey on move-in day makes every old key useless and keys all your exterior doors to one new key. It takes about an hour for a typical house, costs far less than new locks, and it is the single most effective thing a new homeowner can do.
While we are there we check the strike plates and the screws holding them. Most builder-installed strikes use short screws into the trim, which is why a kicked door opens so easily. Three-inch screws into the stud fix that for a few dollars.
Closing on a house? Call (918) 664-5010 and we will rekey every door the day you get the keys.
Smart locks and keypads that fit how your family lives
Keypad and smart locks solve the everyday problems: kids who lose keys, a cleaner who comes on Tuesdays, a short-term rental with a new guest every weekend. We install locks from brands we trust, set up the codes and the app with you, and make sure the lock still takes a key when the battery dies. Many keypad deadbolts fit the hole your current deadbolt uses, so the install is quick and the door looks finished.
Pair the lock with a video doorbell and you can see a delivery driver and let them in from your phone. We install the camera side too, as part of our camera systems work, so one visit covers both.
Hardware that stands up to a kick
A deadbolt is rated by grade. Grade 3 is what most new houses come with. Grade 1 is what we install on a door that faces the street or the alley. The difference is in the bolt, the housing and how the lock resists drilling and prying. Combined with a reinforced strike plate, it turns a 20-second break-in into a loud, slow one, which is usually enough to send someone elsewhere.
If you own rental property or manage several homes, the same locksmith team can put them on a shared key system so you carry one key instead of a ring of them.

FAQ
Common questions about home security
What Tulsa homeowners ask before we come out.
Should I rekey after moving into a new home?
Yes. Rekeying on move-in day makes every key the previous owner, their contractors and their neighbors may still have useless, and it keys all your doors to one new key. It is quick and far less expensive than replacing the locks.
Which smart locks do you recommend?
We install locks from established brands with a keyed backup, a battery that lasts, and an app that keeps working. The best choice depends on your door, whether you want a keypad or phone control, and whether you want it to work with a video doorbell. We will recommend one or two after we see the door.
Can a keypad lock work with my existing deadbolt?
Often, yes. Many keypad deadbolts use the same door prep as a standard deadbolt, so they replace it directly. If the door or frame needs adjustment we will tell you before the work starts.
Do you install home alarm systems?
Tulsa Lock & Key focuses on locks, door hardware, keypad and smart locks, and camera systems for the home. Call (918) 664-5010 and tell us what you are trying to protect, and we will tell you what we can do and what we would recommend.
How long does a residential rekey take?
About an hour for a typical house with three or four exterior doors. Keying every door alike adds little time. We can usually schedule within the week.
